15-minute Mozzarella Chicken in Marinara Sauce

Winner winner, chicken dinner! Pan-seared chicken smothered in marinara sauce and topped with gooey melted mozzarella. Every bite of this chicken is full of flavor and is sure to become an instant weeknight dinner favorite.

PREP TIME: 5 MINS COOK TIME: 10 MINS TOTAL TIME: 15 MINS

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley

  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

  • Salt, to taste

  • Pepper, to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts, sliced crosswise

  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

  • 2 cups marinara sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 4 ounces mozzarella, sliced

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the herbs, salt, pepper, and oil. Season both sides of each piece of chicken with the mixture.

  2. In a large pan, over high heat, add the chicken and sear each side until golden.

  3. Add the garlic to the pan. Stir fry for 30 seconds.

  4. Add marinara sauce, spooning it over and around the chicken.

  5. Add Italian seasoning. Stir to combine.

  6. Once chicken is cooked through, top each piece of chicken with mozzarella. Remove from heat and cover until mozzarella is melted.
